I took a longer-than-expected hiatus from Orphan Books for the last two years as I managed & bought for another bookstore. It was great to be back in a bookstore and to be part of a community of readers again, and by the end of my time there, I knew more of what I wanted for my own bookstore.
My goals now include finding a permanent home for Orphan Books in Frogtown and doing work with local schools. I still want to have a mobile store that is ready to do pop-ups, events, and school book fairs, but I’d also like to build a longterm home in my own neighborhood. Depending on how long it takes to find the right spot, I may have the mobile bookstore open in Frogtown regularly, but available to travel all over Los Angeles.
I’m on the hunt for a great retail location in Frogtown (or Elysian Valley, as many maps have it) and am looking forward to some upcoming pop ups at some of the businesses in the neighborhood. I can’t wait to get to know the readers of Frogtown and beyond and provide recommendations for them. If you know of a place that could be a great fit, let me know.
Finally, if you are in need of someone to sell books at an event for you, I’m available to do that now. You can fill out this form to get an event set up and Orphan Books will come to you!
